Last year, we ventured to India to explore the franchise scene. We saw all kinds of food franchises, but one thing we didn't encounter was a sandwich franchise.
Credit then to Quiznos, one of America's best sandwich franchises, who've decided to enact a master franchise agreement in India. Taken under the license of Sub One Hospitality Services, Quiznos has opened their largest international outlet last week in Hyderabad. They're targeting the 'commercial center' around New Delhi on top of the Bollywood scene.
"When you combine that with the diverse and cosmopolitan population in Northern and Western India's major cities, a partner with significant expertise in the local market, Quiznos' strategy for international growth and localization, and our unparalleled menu of distinctive, recipe-driven flavors, it creates a powerful recipe for success," Lee Vala, international chief development officer, Quiznos, told QSR magazine.
It's an interesting growth strategy. Time will tell if India has appetite for an sandwiches. As QSR magazine report:
"Northern and Western India is fast becoming a 'foodie' market," Himan Juneja, CEO of Sub One Hospitality Services, told QSR. "More and more people are eating meals outside of the home, and they are increasingly seeking new places and tastes to try. Quiznos' colorful ambiance and warm, toasted sandwiches, with their wide variety of flavors and tastes will appeal to a wide and diverse group of local consumers."
