We love a good news story from franchising, so we're happy to pass on this story about food franchises that are making a difference in the lives of people affected by the deadly tornadoes in Alabama just a few weeks ago.
After the tornadoes struck, Captain D's, a successful food franchise, took immediate action to help people who were made homeless or hungry from the tornadoes. They rolled out their Captain D’s Mobile Kitchen to Tuscaloosa, and according to QSR magazine, were able to feed 650 people in 4 hours alone!
“In times of need, family pulls together, and this was a time of need. Though it hurts to see the destruction that the storm has caused, it warms the heart to see how people have pulled together,” Tim O’Leary, director of Atlanta operations for Captain D's, told QSR.
It's a purely selfless act on behalf of the franchise, and it's great to see them making a difference in Alabama. QSR also reported that Taziki’s Mediterranean Café were also providing food and help. At a time of emergency, profits no longer matter. As we saw during the Japanese tsunami and now after the tornadoes, businesses can do a lot to help people in need.
