Cold Stone Creamery Celebrates Shark Week
Cold Stone Creamery once again continues their celebration of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week with the return of their Shark Week-themed desserts. Shark Week officially begins June 26, 2016 but Cold Stone has already unleashed the Shark Frenzy Creation and The Great Blue Cupcake in stores. The Shark Frenzy Creation channels sharks swimming in the ocean with blue Sweet Cream ice cream mixed with a graham cracker pie crust and gummy sharks. The Great Blue Cupcake is a chocolate cup filled with a layer of yellow cake and blue Sweet Cream ice cream complete with blue frosting and a gummy shark. Both desserts will be available through July 5, 2016.
Taco Bell Tests Latest Cheesy Chalupa Creation
Select Taco Bell locations in Texas have spotted a new variation of the Cheesy Gordita Crunch appearing in restaurants. The cheesy version features a fried Chalupa shell instead of the soft flatbread gordita. Another difference is that the two shells are held together by nacho cheese instead of a three-cheese blend. The Tex-Mex franchise is also testing a new line of Double-Decker style tacos dubbed “Double Stacked Tacos.” Residents of Toledo, Oh have spotted the concepts in the wild. The Crunchy Taco is folded in a flour tortilla that comes in three varieties: Cool Habanero, Nacho Crunch and Spicy Sweet.
Captain D’s Debuts New Jumbo Coconut Shrimp
Captain D’s is going big with their summer menu. The seafood chain has launched their new D’s Jumbo Coconut Shrimp that is available for a limited time this summer through July 24, 2016. The tropical dish stars six coconut-crusted, deep fried shrimp along with accompanying sides and a sweet pineapple dipping sauce. For more summer flavor, the chain is also serving up North Atlantic Lobster Rolls and Fried Pickles, along with a new Strawberry Limenade and Coconut Cake.
Burger King Rolls Out Whopper Burrito
Burger King is no stranger to getting creative with their menu items. Reports are surfacing from Hermitage, Pa that Burger King is testing a Whopper-burrito mashup. This inception of the fast food favorite may be dubbed either the “Whopperito” or “Whopperrito” and will feature a flame-grilled beef Whopper complete with American cheese and all of the vegetables rolled into a flour tortilla with mayo. The Miami-based chain is also experimenting in select markets with a Whopper in hot dog form, aptly called a “Whopper Dog” which comes as a limited addition to the grilled hot dog that launched in February.
