Change is a prevalent theme in the world of franchising and for good reason. Whether it’s new products, fresh faces or shifting seasons, there is always something to look forward to. This week we are on the cusp of October and have already experienced the first day of fall. From sweet treats to film themed eats with nods to breakfast, franchises are focusing on keeping our taste buds satisfied!
Dunkin’ Donuts Introduces Oreo Hot Chocolate
To celebrate the season turning to crisper and cooler days, Dunkin’ Donuts has introduced a new hot chocolate flavor to sweeten fall and winter sipping. The indulgent cookies and cream Oreo hot chocolate will join the lineup of limited time hot seasonal beverages offered at the coffee and doughnut franchise. The savory treat will join the ranks of other autumnal menu items including Salted Caramel flavored drinks, Caramel Apple Croissant donuts, Reese’s peanut butter squares and a wide array of pumpkin choices for both pastries and drink.
McDonald’s Explores Happy Meals for Breakfast
Happy Meals may be the next meal item to get a breakfast boost at McDonald’s. The fast-food chain began testing breakfast Happy Meals in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 26. The Happy Meals come with either two McGriddles cakes or an egg and cheese McMuffin. The meals also come with side apples, yogurt or hash browns with fries being an option later in the day. The McMuffin is the same size as a regular Egg McMuffin, minus the slice of Canadian bacon or butter. This test follows McDonald’s efforts to keep up with changing tastes. McDonald’s is known for getting more business from families with children than rivals Burger King and Wendy’s so the company hopes this trial will prove fruitful.
Wayback Burgers Introduces Ghostbusting Grub
To celebrate the release of Ghostbusters (2016) on Blu-Ray and DVD, the hometown burger franchise is introducing a fun, limited time selection of menu items inspired by the iconic pop-culture film. Guests are invited to enjoy supernatural specials including the new Ghostbustin’ Burger, two all-beef patties layered with pepper jack cheese and topped with a spicy ghost pepper sauce – and side of Mac & Cheese Bites with Ghost Pepper Sauce. For a sweet treat oozing with gooey green goodness, its Stay Puft Slime Milkshake blends creamy vanilla bean ice cream with toasted marshmallow flavoring, slimed with kiwi lime sauce and topped with mini marshmallows. Much like the beloved film, Wayback is rooted in nostalgia, making for a practical partnership. The items will be available through October 31.
