Last week, the IFA held its Small Business Lending Summit in Washington. Some leading lights from the various camps that have an interest in franchise lending were on hand, and by all accounts, the event was an illuminating affair.
How often to you get bankers, government representatives and top names from franchising under one roof to discuss franchise funding, which continues to be the most urgent in franchising? Not enough, certainly, and it’s great that the IFA staged this event. Brooke Howell has provided a worthwhile account of the event on the Smartblogs website.
A keynote element of the summit was the recent report from Frandata discussing the amount of franchise candidates who are being denied funding. But as the program shows, the summit packed more talk about the value of funding franchising and the need to get the legislative wheels of franchising turning than you might get in a weekend franchise convention.
If you were at the summit, please feel free to leave some comments below on what you took away the very busy day.
