The 51st IFA convention is winding down in Las Vegas. It’s been a hugely successful event. Here’s a round-up of how the convention went.
The CEO of Candy Bouquet Margaret McClain McEntire was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by the IFA. As this press release explains, McEntire started Candy Bouquet from her garage back in 1989 and has built it into a thriving international brand, so much so that it is now the “world’s largest candy franchise”.
Joseph DePinto, CEO of 7/11 also addressed the convention. He again echoed calls by franchisors to support franchisee to the hilt. “Franchisees are the backbone of who we are,” he said. He also talked about the benefits of media exposure, and mentioned his time on ‘Undercover Boss’.
Steve Forbes will bring speak today and help bring the event to a close. Away from the main events, a lot of individuals had valuable experiences at the convention. There were meet-ups and tweet-ups, and as usual the convention has empowered the franchising community. According to Tweeter Justin Williams, social media is a big theme this year both in panels and behind the scenes. Tune into Paul Segreto’s Franchise News Radio on his show on Thursday to hear his experiences of the event.
