Drama Kids Franchise Cost & Fees

Date Incorporation: 1999

Franchising Since:  2000

Headquarters: Maryland

Description: Drama Kids provide a variety of drama-related educational programs primarily for children and young adults, aged 3-18, using a progressive curriculum that enables students to develop acting skills, public speaking skills, leadership and teamwork skills, confidence, self-esteem and a positive approach to life. The business offers weekly classes during each August to June school year, with a sufficient variety of weekly lessons that a child can participate from age 3 through age 18 without repeating any lesson, and also offers 5 different half-day and full-day summer camp programs, each lasting 1 week (Monday through Friday).

Franchise Offer: The franchisor offers franchises for businesses that provide a variety of drama-related educational programs primarily for children and young adults, aged 3-18. Depending on enrollments, the franchisor expects that, during the school year, the franchisee will operate classes after school from about 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and, at the franchisees option, on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. During the summer, the franchisee must use the franchisor’s curriculum to present at least 2 one-week summer camp programs. The franchisee is not required to maintain a commercial office, although in some circumstances, they may choose to do so.

The franchisor currently offers 3 levels of franchises, which differ as to the franchisees costs, rights and obligations, but not as to the Drama Kids classes that the franchisee present. Our standard franchise is the Director Level Franchise but the franchisor also offers an Executive Level Franchise and a Teacher Level Franchise.

Financial Assistance: The franchisor does not offer any direct or indirect financing nor do they guarantee any note, lease or obligation.

Training and Assistance: The franchisee must successfully complete initial training to the franchisor’s satisfaction at a location they designate in the Baltimore, Maryland area. Training is required for newly hired managers, replacement managers and transferees of the franchised business.

Territory: The franchisee will not receive an exclusive territory and will face competition from other franchises, from the franchisor and their affiliates and from other avenues of distribution which the franchisor may control.

Term of Agreement and Renewal: The term of the franchise agreement is 7 years with an option to renew for an additional term of 7 years. The fee for renewal is 8% of then-current initial franchise fee for the level of franchise.

Obligations and Restrictions: Either the franchisee or their designated representative or manager must personally manage the Drama Kids business at all times. If the franchisee operates a Teacher Level Franchise, the franchisee may not engage a manager or other teachers, but must personally manage the Drama Kids business and do all the teaching. The franchisee or their designated representative or manager and any replacement manager must attend and successfully complete initial training the franchisor provides.
