Case Study 1: Little Caesars Veteran Franchise Program

Among many franchises offering tailor made veteran franchise program, Little Caesars offers a well-developed Veterans Program that has enjoyed huge success. Michael Ilitch, who established Little Caesars with his wife Marian in 1959, has been in the franchise industry since 1962. Michael is a military veteran himself, having served as a weapons instructor for the U.S. Marine Corps from 1947 until 1951.

veterans-1Michael became interested in establishing a veteran franchise program after hearing about military veterans who were struggling to make money for their families when they returned from service. One military veteran whose story particularly influenced Michael was Robert Doughty, to whom he gave a Little Caesars franchise in 2007. Doughty was the primary influence for Little Caesars veteran franchise program.

As a military veteran, Michael knows that veterans are well suited to the franchise model as they are disciplined and hardworking. They have also inherited a management style that emphasizes teamwork, as well as strong personal commitment.

The program offers benefits to qualified veterans and disabled service members. All Qualified Veterans receive a reduction of $5,000 from the franchise fee, financing benefits and a further $5,000 credit on the equipment for their first store. Service Disabled Veterans receive a waiver on the franchisee fee of $20,000, financing options and benefits, a $10,000 credit on the initial equipment order and marketing support from leading national marketing companies for the grand opening.

For even more information, take a look at Little Caesars' franchise videos, which feature interviews with Little Caesars’ franchisees speaking about their experiences with the franchise. They also feature representatives from Little Caesars explaining what is involved in being a part of a Little Caesars franchise opportunity.
