Ziebart International Corp., the global leader in automotive detailing, films and protection services, has announced its “North American Dealer of the Year” and honored its top sales, service and performance leaders for 2013.
The North American Dealer of the Year – the company’s highest annual award – was presented to Ziebart franchise owners Tim and Evelyn Shinkle of Warsaw, Indiana. The annual award is presented to the dealer who exemplifies the best overall Ziebart business operations for the year. The award, presented by Ziebart International chairman and CEO Thomas E. Wolfe, is based on overall achievement for the year on multiple criteria including implementation of the company decor program, advertising, local marketing participation, promotions, service training and sales growth.
“This is a very important award for us and for the franchise winner,” said Wolfe. “It demonstrates that we all must strive for excellence in every aspect of providing our customers with the very best vehicle care products and services in the world. We congratulate Tim and Evelyn Shinkle for taking care of their customers and going the extra mile to build the Ziebart brand.”
What does being named the North American Dealer of the Year mean to Tim Shinkle? “It means a lot of hard work paid off,” said Shinkle, who has operated the store for seven years. “We exceeded our sales goals for the year and for each of the past seven years. We had tremendous success with in-demand products such as Diamond Gloss®, paint protection film, rust protection and sprayed-on bed liners.”
Shinkle attributes his success to deep faith, experience, customer service and an incredible staff. He also had high praise for his wife and business partner, Evelyn. “She is my biggest supporter and fan club and it's a pleasure to have her cheering me on.” While the Warsaw store is the first he has owned and operated, he is no stranger to Ziebart. Shinkle explains that he started in the business as a manager of a ‘Dealer of the Year’ store in South Bend, Indiana. He was a district manager in Goshen, Indiana and helped the team achieve sales of $750,000 a year within a few years.
Other honorees include New Dealer of the Year, Kyle Crandall of Jamestown, New York; Store Manager of the Year, Jim Crubaugh of Franklin Park, Illinois; Top Total Sales Leader, Rich Lester of Cicero, New York; and Top Achiever Fleet Channel Sales, Tim Shinkle of Warsaw, Indiana.
In addition, Ziebart honored three other franchisees for their continued service awards. Chris Lindberg of Appleton, Wisconsin was honored for his 20 years of service as a Ziebart franchise operator. “It’s a miracle,” he said, reflecting on 20 years as a Ziebart franchise operator. “I never thought I would be doing this all this time. We are No. 1 in fleet rust protection and Rhino Linings® sprayed-on bedliner sales and service in the country,” he said. “My secret to success? Showing up every day. Ziebart offers great products and better service. We offer warranties because we stand behind the product, unlike dealers who say 'one application and you are done'.”
The Ziebart 10-year service award recipients are Brad Hamelback of St. Charles, Missouri and Jim Harris of Bloomington, Indiana. Mr. Harris credits retired owner Denny Fryman for bringing him into the Ziebart fold and setting the foundation for him to expand to 14 stores, with nine in Indiana and five in Ohio. He also says that the secret is hiring good people. “It’s all about the people. We have great managers, workers and high quality products and that’s the key to good customer service. It’s not about me; I couldn’t do what we do as a company without having good, well-trained people on board – people who care.” Harris says he has a rigorous employee selection and training process and ensures that each employee knows their job well. From installation to sales, it’s all about superior customer service. “With the type of service we provide our clients, they cannot go anywhere else.”
Honoree Brad Hamelback, Ziebart of St. Charles, says the Ziebart methodology of customer service and care has made the past decade a smooth ride for him and his customers. “It has been a real pleasure working with Ziebart corporate for 10 years serving our customers,” he said. “Nobody does more research or spends more time in getting products just right. The product line is so good it practically sells itself. We are all about quality products and service and doing and delivering what we say. Ziebart paint protection products are truly second to none. We’re in the ‘show me’ state of Missouri, and we have to deliver with quality and service. Our climate gives us some harsh winters and we sell a lot of Rhino Linings® and Diamond Gloss® that protects cars and trucks through all seasons. I love what I do and look forward to the next 10 years.”
