A sure sign of an improving economy is more small business openings. There’s plenty of that going on now all across the United States, and many of those startups are a Chem-Dry cleaning franchise.
In fact, the 63 new Chem-Dry franchises sold by late May 2016 has eclipsed the number at the same point in 2015, which was itself a record-breaking year. “That says a lot about the brand and the confidence that many first-time business owners have in it,” says Doug Smith, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development.
“We have had amazing success in the past couple of years, and there’s no indication that we’re slowing down,” Doug says. “As more people are looking for an affordable, home-based business, they are seeing just how well the Chem-Dry cleaning franchise model works for them.”
Interest remains high going forward
In the first six months of 2015, 48 new Chem-Dry cleaning franchises were sold. In 2016 we passed that number by more than a dozen and have many more candidates in the pipeline. The more people look into franchise options, the more they see the many values in the Chem-Dry proposition.
“With so many other franchises, you’re dealing with leasing space, keeping inventory and hiring a large staff,” Doug says. “And if you’re looking at food and beverage operations, you’re dealing with a lot of inspections and other bureaucratic red tape. Compare that to a Chem-Dry cleaning franchise, which can be operated out of the home and is completely scalable. People can start as small, or as big, as they like.”
Multi-unit sales on the upswing
In fact, Chem-Dry’s reputation is such that many new franchise owners are purchasing multiple territories, so that they can put expansion plans into place as they ramp up the initial business.
“There’s just a level of excitement around Chem-Dry now that is amazing,” Doug says. “We have more multi-unit buyers every month. The fact that so many people want to commit this kind of time and energy right away really speaks to the strength of the brand. Last year was the best year we’d had in more than a decade, and we’re blowing it out of the water halfway through 2016. I am very excited to see how we continue to grow and expand.”
