New open air village at Fort Bliss Army Post welcomes company.
The Salad Bowl has been invited to become a tenant in a joint venture project by Servicestar and AAFES, offering fresh salads, soups and baked potatoes with over 50 toppings to the troops and their families in the center.
The new development includes over 500,000 square feet of retail space and will service the needs of 127,000 active military, retirees and family members. Anchors include an expanded Post Exchange with grocery store expected to generate annual sales in excess of $100 million.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to become a tenant in this project,” stated Douglas Keane, president of The Salad Bowl Franchise Corporation. “We have participated in other military programs offering free salads to our troops; now we will have an opportunity to offer them alternative healthful dining on a daily basis.”
In addition to The Salad Bowl, the 200,000 square foot open air center will feature specialty retail, entertainment and other restaurant tenants.
The company plans on pursuing opportunities with other bases throughout the U.S. and abroad. According to Keane, “We were very well received at other military functions and look forward to this approach becoming a major part of the company’s business.”
