In what promises to be a dramatic and emotional battle, two Anytime Fitness managers from Ontario will compete on Canadian national television for the job of their dreams. The winner will nearly double his or her salary and earn a big promotion to a corporate position. But what neither competitor knows is that whoever does not get the corporate job will win an even bigger prize - their very own Anytime Fitness club!
“Be the Boss” will air Thursday, June 13th at 9pm EP on the “W” Network.
Adding to the drama, following a nationwide search, the two club managers chosen to compete on the show happen to know each other very well. Blaire Bouwman works as the manager of the Anytime Fitness clubs in Cambridge, while Sunny Pannu manages another Anytime Fitness club just 18 km away in Kitchener. Both clubs are owned by Brian and Lisa Bazely and, prior to competing on the show, Sunny and Blaire worked together on projects nearly every day.
“They each have their own unique style of managing,” said Brian Bazely. “Blaire is strong-willed, passionate, emotional and she has an edgy personality. Sunny dresses well, exudes confidence and is an excellent conversationalist. Both of them are great managers, but people who watch the show will definitely root for one more than the other.”
During the show, which was filmed in early April, the contestants were required to compete in a series of challenges designed to test their ability to lead, work together as a team and represent the company.
“The challenges tested their emotional and physical resilience, as well as their creativity and mental toughness,” said Dave Mortensen, president and co-founder of Anytime Fitness. “It was good to see how Sunny and Blaire each responded to pressure. Things got a little tense between the two of them at times, but they both rose to the occasion.”
