It was a natural transition for me to fall into the WSI opportunity. The focus is on helping Small-Medium-Enterprise (SME) businesses drive targeted traffic to their websites.”
WSI Scam, WSI Rip-off Coalition launches, WSI Consumer Advocacy Program
August 1, 2006
Scammers, spammers, con artists, ripoff kings and queens, and cyber thieves beware! There’s a new group of vigilantes in cyber town, and they aren’t going to stop until they uncover all the false information, pyramid structures, illegal franchises, and bogus schemes on the Internet. The name of this determined group of savvy consumers dedicated to policing the worldwide web? The WSI Net Scam – Rip-off Coalition.
The Coalition’s mission is to act as a consumer watchdog with insomnia, never resting and ever alert for cyber thievery in the form of bogus operations and franchises, counterfeit schemes, and illegal operators who did not follow through on promises. To WSI volunteers, the unethical behavior of rip-off artists and their scams is simply unacceptable; thus, through the WSI fraud consumer advocacy program, consumers will be given opportunities to submit stories as well as find information to start the process of legally making a claim against any perpetrators of Internet swindling.
The WSI network of volunteers will collect true stories of people who were conned by Internet chameleons and their fake business operations, false advertising, dirty business schemes, poor sales tactics, and high pressure sales. Though many of these tales will have less than happy endings, as word spreads of misleading emails, lost money, and fraudulent activities, the WSI advocacy group hopes to protect more consumers from falling victim to fraudulent rip-off artists.
By sending out “buyer beware” WSI alerts, WSI press releases, and WSI articles, the WSI Rip-off consumer advocacy program will expose con artists’ pyramid schemes, hard sell approaches, and poor response time (if and when products or services are actually delivered). WSI will also keep a WSI con master file of data to inform consumers of web products and services that are rip-offs.
