Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest addition to its fleet – the highly anticipated Norwegian Breakaway – will be setting sail out of New York on May 10, 2013. Nearly 200 Expedia CruiseShipCenters franchise partners and corporate staff will be on board to partake in the inaugural activities.
Expedia CruiseShipCenters, named Norwegian Cruise Line’s Retail Travel Agency of the Year in 2012, will be among the first to board the 144,017 ton ship – now the largest cruise ship based year-round in New York. Sailing to Bermuda and the Bahamas, Norwegian Breakaway can accommodate roughly 4,000 guests and features a distinct New York flavor, including ice sculptures of Lady Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Chrysler Building, restaurants and bars that have both indoor and outdoor aspects and a version of the Broadway ‘80’s rock musical, “Rock of Ages”.
“We are very excited to be celebrating the inaugural sailing of the spectacular Norwegian Breakaway,” said Mathew Eichhorst, president of Expedia CruiseShipCenters. “With 25 new ships debuting this year alone, the cruise industry continues to thrive, providing travelers with the most innovative and satisfying vacation experiences available.”
Norwegian Breakaway’s inaugural celebrations will be held in conjunction with Expedia CruiseShipCenters’ first ever U.S. Anchor meeting in New York. A regional assembly attended by franchise partners, the Anchor meeting will feature corporate updates and presentations by the company’s senior leadership team, including president, Matthew Eichhorst, senior vice president of sales & marketing, Geraldine Ree, and vice president of marketing, John Mast.
Expedia CruiseShipCenters will return to New York in June to showcase its travel agency franchise opportunity at the International Franchise Expo taking place June 20-22. The company will be giving away a free 7-day cruise for two on the Norwegian Breakaway to one lucky visitor at the Expedia CruiseShipCenters' tradeshow booth.
