Pet Franchises

The pet industry has made a lot of progress over the last decade and is set for further growth, with many franchises capitalizing on this trend. The pet-services market is out-growing both the food sector and non-food supplies sector in the Pet industry. According to the report Market Trends: "The U.S. Market for Pet Care Services"is valued at $22 billion for 2008.

A range of opportunities are available for people who want to work with pets, with the security that a pet franchise will provide the business structure, training and extra support if needed, enabling franchisees to get on with looking after domestic animals.

These services have been established and developed on the back of increased pet ownership and spending on grooming and products for pets.

According to the American Pet Products Manufacturing Association, more than 60 per cent of US households own at least one pet, with most of these being dogs or cats. This is an increase of five per cent from around 15 years ago.

The organization estimated pet expenditure in the US to be close to $40 billion in 2007, and is set to be 2008's biggest industry trend, with this increase expected to continue at a rate of around five per cent annually over the next few years.

Reasons given by experts for this growth include younger couples taking longer to settle down and have families, with many getting pets and treating them like children.

Another is an increase in working hours meaning that pet owners find themselves spending less time with their pets and therefore they bring in pet service companies to make sure their pet is kept in good condition.

The following franchises provide a range of pet services from pet grooming, pet daycare, pet food and pet Toys:  Pet Foods, Pet Care Specialists, Pet Depot, The Barker Lounge and many many more. Each pet care franchise provides a unique pet service ranging from daily visits and care, in-home overnight sitting, taxi services and special products to clean fur and teeth and to maintain their health.

There are also a number of pet franchises that specifically focus on dogs. These include the Doggy Doo Care, Camp Bow Wow, that will enable people to keep their dog active even if they are busy or at work.

As long as potential franchisees ensure they do thorough research, they could make a significant amount of money working with animals they love.
