Interview with Bill Jones: Co-Founder of iCRYO Enterprises
What began as an add-on service to a run-of-the-mill physical therapy center quickly became its own unique business when iCRYO founder Kyle Jones discovered the magic of whole body cryotherapy. Together through iCRYO Enterprises Kyle and Bill Jones are bringing cryotherapy to the world and making it a globally accessible treatment for medical rehabilitation, fitness recovery, athletic performance and cosmetic purposes.
In this Success Story Interview, iCRYO co-founder Bill Jones talks to us about the iCRYO business opportunity that is rapidly expanding and creating the standard for the cryothereapy industry.
Can you tell us a little about the history of iCRYO and the part you play in the business?
iCRYO started as a add on service to a physical therapy center where Kyle Jones (pictured below) was working as a manager and therapy tech. Cryotherapy was first introduced to Kyle when a patient he was treating asked him if he knew anything about cryotherapy and if it really worked. This prompted Kyle to do extensive research on therapy and all related equipment to see if this cold therapy would actually help patients. After purchasing 2 whole body cryotherapy units for the therapy center he spent 1 ½ years treating hundreds of patients and getting excellent results, he realized that patients, friends and relatives were getting relief from many conditions related to pain management and inflammation. Meanwhile Kyle realized there is a lack of thorough training and certification in the industry so he developed proven systems and methods for training, safety, and marketing, and operations management. Kyle put his business plan into action and decided to open his own full Cryotherapy wellness center in 2015. While he and I were working on business plan for the first location we realized we wanted to make cryotherapy available to the masses and decided to put another business plan together to expand iCRYO.
In early 2016 we had our plan in place to expand and decided to structure a "Trademark License" and which we could offer to investors, entrepreneurs and hard working people looking to own a piece of the American Dream of owning their own business. We launched our expansion in April 2016 and now have 5 locations in Texas and more business partners preparing to open iCRYO in New York, Virginia, Florida, California and several other states.
What demographics is an iCRYO business best suited for?
Our general demographics are men and women ages 18-65, the largest age group being 24-40 with a smaller sampling of ages 15-17 and over 65. Income levels range from the lower economic areas to the high income areas and our data indicates our customers will spend what they need to be healthy and feel good without the use of prescription drugs and surgeries.
Our customers are into healthy alternative solutions for recovery, fitness, athletic performance or seeking natural alternatives for pain management and anti-aging. Although our data also indicates people are traveling 10 miles or more to use our services we prefer to have at least 50k population within 5 mile radius.
What can you tell us about the day-to-day experiences of those running an iCRYO dealer business?
Because we are in the business of helping others feel better and live pain free without prescription drugs and countless surgeries our daily routines are filled joy and gratification we receive from our customers. At iCRYO we get to know all of our customers and build relationships that are unlike any other business. Our highly trained staff consults with each person and develops a plan to help them reach whatever goals they have to feeling better and managing pain free lives.
Hours are 6 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturdays. There are so many customers that benefit from our early morning hours and come in before work, prior to working out at the gym, and after dropping kids at school. They also benefit from our later evening hours by coming in after work or before and after a workout. We schedule appointments but we are always available for walk-ins because our services are 3-10 minutes in duration and we can quickly get our customers on their way! We are in the business of helping others get better and feel better, and this is part of our culture so our daily reward is seeing the results in our customers and how great we help them feel.
What does the training look like for an iCRYO dealer?
Our training and certification program is cutting edge and leading the industry with proprietary Copyright and Trademark systems. In short, all new employees and owners are required to complete 2 weeks hands on training at one of our facilities. They are trained on all iCRYO procedures and systems to include; safety, operations management, equipment training, software, scheduling, iCRYO Tech training with all equipment. We also train the new owner on marketing, social media management, pricing packages for services, grand opening and much more.
What are some trends to keep an eye out for within your industry segment?
Because we have positioned iCRYO as the Industry Leader with our Training and Certification Programs we are actually creating many of the trends ourselves. iCRYO wants to bring Cryotherpy to the world and make accessible to as many people as we can reach so we are creating a "Movement" that others will follow.
However we watch for trends that are coming from equipment manufacturers, new technology, safety, continuing education, and medical studies and information from the medical community. We know that the medical community is already embracing Cryotherapy and using with several cutting edge medical procedures and medical science. Pain Management and Anti-Aging medicine are currently the most sought after treatments and procedures in adults 50 years and older, but we see are seeing this trending towards expanding ages as low as 25-30 years old.
How competitive is the industry? How does iCRYO set itself apart from the competition?
As with any industry the best time to get in is at the early growth stages, and Cryotherapy is very young at this point, and based on collaboration within our industry we feel that this business will not peak for another 10-12 years. This provides great opportunity between now and next 10 years for entrepreneurs to get in and have a solid foothold and provide immediate and sustainable "Return on Investment" for years to come while establishing a solid business platform with the number 1 brand, iCRYO.
There is very little completion in Cryotherapy at this moment in time and there are many things that set iCRYO apart from others. Most of which are proprietary to iCRYO, and this information is unavailable to share openly due to Copyright and Trademark for our systems, methods and proven business model.
However I can say that iCRYO is the only company with complete "Turn-Key" 100% proven plan to get a new iCRYO Dealer up and running quickly and successfully. Furthermore, iCRYO has the only comprehensive and complete Training and Certification program. We have a structured Real Estate team which actively searches for locations and provides accurate demographics and can also negotiate leases or our new Dealers. iCRYO has in house Construction team with over 60 years of Retail Construction experience in all 50 states and can streamline design, permit and construction process. Our ability to perform Turn-Key system for our Dealers saves them time and money, not to mention headaches!
How long does the start-up process typically take?
Once we get through introduction and qualification process and approve the candidate to partner with iCRYO and become a dealer, it typically takes 90-120 days depending on the candidate and how quickly they can get funding in place and decide on location. On iCRYO's end we are positioned to move quickly with site selection, construction, equipment ordering and getting location opened.
What's next for iCRYO in terms of expansion?
We have a 3 year growth plan in place that will add new 15 locations in year 2017, 50 in 2018, 75 in 2019 and 100 in 2020. Our goal is to reach 250 locations nationwide by end of 2020 and to have locations in all 50 states. iCRYO team is currently working on plans to take our Brand globally and should have our first international location by end of 2017.
GREAT! WHAT'S MY NEXT STEP?
