Nestlé Tollhouse Café Shares Development Plans & Franchise Industry Tips
After the Nestle Corporation granted Crest Foods Inc. the right to franchise its iconic brand in August 2000, they launched the very first Nestle Tollhouse Café in Plano, TX. Franchise Direct discusses the latest project plans for the café system with Vice President of Franchise Development Ted Milburn at the Las Vegas held 2013 IFA Convention.
Ted comments on Nestlé’s powerful brand appeal with credentials that travel well around the globe, which is most beneficial for franchisees seeking a stable and distinguished system. An industry veteran, Nestlé’s roots date back to the 19th century and a 1905 company merger that brought about a united U.S. and European foundation between a Swiss and American brand. This initial merger has gradually with time led to one of the world’s most expansive global brands.
When asked about future projects for the Nestlé Tollhouse Café, Ted mentions plans for a “Type 2” full service café that is currently in the research and development stage. This new café service will offer breakfast to lunch options for diners, a conversion of the full service dessert café into a full service bakery café concept with a more comprehensive menu. The existing full service dessert café offers a number of beverage and dessert options from baked goods to ice cream. Cafes currently span east to west coast in the U.S. and Canada, as well as select countries in the Middle East.
Ted conveys the real value of detailed research when scouting out franchising opportunities, which focuses on empowering prospective franchisees to ask questions and dig deeper throughout the research process:
“Do your research. Spend the time in what we call the “Learning & Discovery Process”
“Spend time. Look and really understand before you start looking at opportunities, what are your goals, needs, and objectives in life? And when you really start looking at the core of what makes you happy, what sort of things you want to explore, put both feet in the water and explore.”
GREAT! WHAT'S MY NEXT STEP?
