About This Video
In this Crestcom franchisee video, Tony Davis, owner of Crestcom in Northeast Florida's Jacksonville market, shares his experience after more than three years in the network. Davis sold his previous businesses in February 2021, found himself looking for his next chapter, and came across the Crestcom opportunity on LinkedIn.
Leadership development resonated with him because, as a business owner, his favorite part of the job had been watching employees grow. He also brought a long sales career to the role, including B2B selling in the Kansas City market, which made him comfortable sitting across the table from business owners. Having owned a business himself, he can now tell prospects he has been in their shoes and knows what keeps them up at night.
Davis explains the problem Crestcom solves with a personal example. Small and midsize businesses often promote their best employee into management, but the best employee is not always the best leader. He promoted someone whose brash communication style drove away good installers, which reinforced the idea that people leave companies because of their managers.
He describes the onboarding and support as great, the relationship with the franchisor as strong, and the camaraderie among owners as a highlight. Owning the business gives him flexibility and quality of life, though he is clear that results depend on the work you put in.
The most rewarding moments, he says, come when managers thank him after a session and tell him the training has made them better communicators at work and at home. For prospective franchisees, Davis offers a candid view of the role from someone who has owned businesses before.
