About This Video

This Why Kinderdance video is a complete introduction to the brand's developmental dance and fitness programs and the role they play in early education. It explains the philosophy behind the classes, the programs on offer and where they are delivered.

The video starts from a simple observation: young children express themselves through movement as well as words, and how a preschooler learns to learn shapes the years ahead. Music, movement and dance are natural learning tools for this age group. Kinderdance, founded in 1979, has franchises across the U.S. and internationally. Its logo blocks represent how children learn and grow in class, through exercise and stretching, body awareness, motor skills, structured dance, imagery and academic readiness concepts.

Children are encouraged to talk in class to support language development, but above all to have fun. The goal is a love of learning and confidence in movement. The video also notes that many physical education programs lack funding while childhood obesity rates rise.

Five programs give owners flexibility. Kinderdance, for ages 3 to 5, covers ballet, tap, creative movement and acrobatics with academic concepts woven in. Kindergym offers mat gymnastics and fitness for the same age group. Kindertots serves 2-year-olds with motor skills, numbers, colors and songs. Kindermotion focuses on health, nutrition, fitness and sports prep. Kindercombo is an after-school program in ballet, tap and modern dance for ages 6 to 8. All programs end with a year-end demonstration.

Certified instructors teach classes on-site at childcare centers, schools, gyms and community centers, with no added work for staff.
