About This Video
This 2023 TMAD Conference video features the Teriyaki Madness executive team explaining how the franchisor structures support behind franchise owners — and why an early bet in Vegas turned into a scalable national brand. The origin story comes first. An exec on the team was approached by the founders during a Vegas trip, tasted the food, and recognized something special — the stores had small footprints, low employee requirements, fresh-cooked product with little waste, and demonstrable repeat customer behavior. Those operational fundamentals signaled a brand that could scale outside Vegas, which became the path forward. Teriyaki Madness positions itself as a full-service franchisor. The mission is to provide opportunity, and the brand backs that with real estate, construction, marketing, supply chain, and operational support. The intent throughout is to give franchisees the tools so they can take care of their customers rather than drowning in back-office mechanics. Marketing is built out as a small specialized team. Dedicated social and digital staff handle one slice of the work. Two LSM (local shop marketing) managers coach owners one-on-one on local marketing. A brand marketing person handles promotions and direct mail at scale, and internal designers can turn around new creative in minutes when an idea surfaces. The closing thread is data. Teriyaki Madness invests in a three-person analytics team plus a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis — a sizable investment for the brand's stage — and pushes weekly and monthly reports and dashboards out to franchisees so they can see how they're performing well beyond the P&L. The exec frames the philosophy clearly: continue to grow, not amazingly fast, not slow, but by taking care of others first.
