As a teacher, I have seen the concerted effort from students as they plan their high school coursework and navigate through the college admission process. I’ve coached others on the traditional college admission tests required by most universities in the United States. To get their choice of schools to recognize their zeal and open their doors, I’ve suggested taking tours, opting for the interviews, and maintaining rigorous coursework so they would be viewed favorably by college admissions committees.
But, no words could ever prepare a student for losing a spot on their top-choice school to someone bribing and cheating to get accepted when they did not earn the privilege through honest means. If young adults are one thing, they are righteous and indignant about unfair treatment.
For education franchises, this means that their offerings can soar above greed, pride, and ego by providing high-quality educational assistance in a conscientious and honest manner. After the pay-for admission scandal, education franchises offer bright options for students who want to work hard and be recognized fairly for their efforts, particularly in the following three areas.
Focus on Students
Education franchises develop student abilities outside of the traditional classroom by focusing on their interests and fostering an inquisitive nature. In most schools, the teacher to student ratio is very high; teachers simply can’t provide the type of individualized instruction that many students need. An education franchise fills this need by augmenting classroom lessons with enhanced learning.
Personal Rewards
Education franchisors are often drawn to this type of franchise because they sincerely care about contributing to children and to the community. Instead of being motivated by greed and financial payouts, education franchise owners measure success by what they contribute to their community and to their students. If this is your franchise opportunity then, as students progress, you will find your choice of franchise personally rewarding and positive.
Encourage a Sense of Appropriate Pride
The biggest discussion since the scandal has been about financial privilege’s negative impact on college admissions. Already, changes are underway to reconsider legacy admissions the use of test scores. As a franchisee and educator, you get to uphold the virtues of education and advancement based on merit. Perhaps better than any teacher, you will foster confidence in students based on a job well done.

Improving a system that was so easily manipulated will take time. As we address the persistent barriers to equitable opportunities, education franchises play a valuable and honorable role in elevating students to excellence while providing the much-needed belief that they are capable and valuable to a community. Nothing will make a student feel more vindicated and righteous than knowing his exceptional grades and well-rounded application are what got him accepted. Education franchises will help make that dream a reality.
