The fact that the child-related franchise industry is a $48 billion one tells you that it’s a steady and profitable industry to consider. Even when times are tough, parents are willing to spend money on after school activities, tutoring, sports, and products for their offspring. Here, let’s look at a few categories to consider if you want to become a franchisee of a kid-based franchise.

Sports

These days, it seems like every child is on at least three sports teams or participating in multiple physical activity classes. Parents like keeping their kids active; it’s great for the body and mind. As a franchise owner, you can capitalize on this trend and contribute to the well-being of kiddos!

There are ball sports franchises like Soccer Shots that have low overhead and startup costs (you can start one for as little as $15,000). There are also youth athletic training franchises like RedLine Athletics that foster athletic performance and growth. And then there are franchises aimed at younger children, like My Gym.

Whatever your focus in sports and recreational activity for children, there are lucrative franchising opportunities abound.

Tutoring & Education

Parents  prioritize their children’s education, and the number of tutoring franchises is a testament to this fact. Some tutoring franchises, like Mathnasium, focus on specific school subjects, while others, like Tutor Doctor, assist students with all subjects.

Some franchises cater to specific age groups, such as Class 101. This franchise provides college preparation services for high school students.

Still other education franchises provide enrichment classes on specific subjects, like e2 Young Engineers, which caters to students interested in science, technology, math, and engineering.

And what parent wouldn’t want to develop the talent of the next Picasso or Van Gogh? Art franchises like Busy Bees Pottery and Arts Studio help kids discover their inner artist.

We’re seeing tremendous diversity in this particular category of kid-centric franchises, as parents seek innovative learning opportunities for their children.

Photography

It seems like as soon as you capture a photo of your baby, she’s all grown up. Photography franchises that specialize in child photography make a killing with parents eager to document each phase of their children’s lives.

Some franchises, like Lil’ Angels Photography, take the traditional approach to professional portraits, and are home-based, making them affordable franchises.

Others, such as TapSnap, incorporate technology to create memorable moments. TapSnap is a social media photo booth for parties and special events.

Child Care

The final up-and-coming kid-based franchise industry is child care. Both children who are too young to attend elementary school, as well as their older siblings who need after-school care, provide the customer base for this growing area.

Franchises like Discovery Point Child Development Centers and Legacy Academy provide franchisees with the opportunity to help shape young minds.

As you can see, there are ample opportunities in children-based franchises. Which you choose will depend on where your interests and experiences lie.
