Charity a Big Part of the Success Story for Kona Ice in 2014

When the annual expansion of a franchise business beats all previous years of growth, it’s exciting news—especially when the business is on the young side (running for under ten years ) and involved in major donations to worthy causes across the U.S.

The notion of “fast food” doesn’t always involve burgers, fries or tacos. Kona Ice has been offering “fast” shaved ice and ice cream in numerous flavors to on the go crowds through franchising for about 8 years now, delivering chilled treats via the patented FLAVORWAVE station set-up right on the truck that bustles to and fro between different events and  fundraisers.

In a mobile fashion, Kona Ice franchise partners serve crowds with ease, going where the people are. Venue types are diverse, from schools, to parties, to sporting events, you name it, Kona Ice trucks can get there with little hassle. Franchisees also access alternative ways to meet their customers, including kiosks launching this year for larger events, mini units perfect for indoor events, and a trailer that acts as a condensed version of the Kona Ice Truck.

So what’s with the exciting news? Just last year in 2014, nearly 150 new trucks were added to the crew of franchisees serving customers across the country, adding up to over 600 trucks working hard to help customers relax and enjoy a Kona moment. Pretty impressive for a completely home-based and low-cost franchise concept in the competitive food sector, but that’s only part of the story.

Kona Ice has been in the business of much more than fast food or brand development across the country. At its core since the beginning in 2007, Kona Ice has been dedicated to passing off a portion of profits through active giveback programs. Flavor Our World began nearly one year ago as an organized effort to help Kona Ice reach out to communities and special causes. These efforts and growth of the brand are responsible for the over $25 million given back through fundraisers in various U.S. states. This figure clearly illustrates commitment to positively impacting communities of all sorts and the trust that customers place in the brand to help them raise the funds they need to support important local causes.
