It has been a very green week. My organic vegetable delivery arrived, the crepe myrtle finally sprouted leaves, and we have nearly a hundred different vegetable plants and herbs enjoying the spring weather.

This focus on fresh and natural food has also been increasing among franchises. But, with more people stuck at home and having to cook—some for the first time—the interest in healthy food options has skyrocketed. Even local farmers are scrambling to keep up with demand.

What does that mean for franchises? It means opportunities in franchises dedicated to healthier living.

Good Eating with Healthy Options

Restaurants of all styles make for good franchise opportunities. After cooking at home for weeks, we will all be wanting to get something tasty prepared and served up for us.

Many options are simply fresh food prepared well. From pizza and salad to allergy-aware franchises offering flavorful bowls, there are numerous fresh-food alternatives to satisfy all the cravings developed when we were confined to home.

If a food franchise is your calling, consider focusing on healthy foods or be prepared to offset a standard menu with healthy alternatives to satisfy all types of customers.

Healthy Retail Stores

Wine and alcohol sales have increased significantly during weeks of quarantine. Franchises that offer adult drink options along with healthy fare will benefit from our food and drink appreciation. Luckily, options for gourmet, wine and health food stores are already out there.

Even if the wine isn’t organic, customers can enjoy a one-stop-shop for their eating and drinking desires. For many, as the economy opens up and we get back in our cars and on the road, there will be a jump in fast-food demand. If a return to work means eating on the run, healthier preferences can be met by healthy food vending machines or prepared food deliveries. We all have to eat, and no one will be going back to frozen pizza and colas.

And don't forget our feathered and furry friends. Pet retail will continue to thrive as people strive for better health.

Keeping Things Natural

The plethora of videos about cutting your own hair and DIY personal care have kept us laughing during a hard time. However, the real experts will be in high demand very soon.

Almost 70% of the population spends a lot of money each month on personal care items and services. For beauty franchises, this means you can offer personal care with organic products. Waxing, spas, and salons often provide animal-free products that don’t harm the environment.

The world continues offering beautiful options for health-based franchises. What a great way to showcase a desire to keep things green, healthy and beautiful.
