Franchisor Q&A (#6): Filling a Community Need

Franchisor Q&A Cover Image

This post is part of a series asking top franchisors a commonly asked question by prospective franchisees. Today's question is: What is the need your franchise fills in communities?

Cory Chalmers
President and Founder of Steri-Clean Inc., a biohazard and hoarding cleanup franchise
Steri-Clean fills a huge gap in the cleaning industry between your general housekeepers and your large fire and floor restoration companies. This niche business specializes in biohazard cleanup and hoarding cleanup, which until we started there was no such service. We are not simply cleaning a property, and our trademarked slogan of “Restoring Homes and Lives” is exactly what we are doing. We provide caring, compassionate and discreet cleaning at the worst time in a person’s life. And to our surprise time and time again, we get thank you letters, gifts and tons of positive feedback after almost every job. This is simply something that most cleaning companies cannot and will not do.

Dave Price
Director of Operations of VINCI Preschool, an early childhood education franchise
Parents today are more concerned than ever about their child’s future. In an increasingly competitive landscape, children need to acquire a multitude of skills to become successful adults; from communication, to coping with stress, to innovation, as well as many others. Studies have shown that the majority of children in the United States are not ready for school by age 6. VINCI Preschool is designed to bridge that learning gap and provide the tools needed to help children grow during this critical learning period.

David Lavalle
Founder of Dryer Vent Wizard, a cleaning franchise specializing in dryer vents
Every home in a community has the need to be safe, healthy, and energy efficient. Dryer Vent Wizard can help with all of these needs!

Dryers with clogged vents often take multiple cycles to dry a load of clothing. These clogged vents cause energy inefficiency, higher electrical bills, and unwanted wear and tear on both the appliance and the customers clothing. By having the dryer vents cleaned on a regular basis, we can help the appliance run at its peak performance and efficiency.

Clean vents also contribute to a safer and healthier home. Of course, there is always a risk of a dryer fire if the lint buildup becomes too great. However, many people do not realize clogged vents can also lead to mold buildup in a home and, with gas dryers, the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Dryer Vent Wizards take great pride in providing a high level of service to their customers, but they also leave each job with that great feeling one gets when they have helped keep a family safe.

Idan Shpizear
CEO of 911 Restoration, a fire, smoke, water damage and mold remediation franchise
A big part of our philosophy is that healthy businesses can create a healthier community. Our success depends on our involvement with the community and that’s why our organization has to impact the community in a positive way.

Peleg Lindenberg (co-founder) and I were coming to America after serving in the military. When we got here, we quickly realized that money did not grow on trees and the streets were not paved with gold.

We took jobs at a small carpet cleaning operation. It wasn’t long before the owner wanted to sell the place and we took over the business. Being the ones in the field, we learned about water damage restoration and saw the gains to be made in the sister industry.

We shifted gears and got into the restoration game instead. This was right around the time of Hurricane Katrina. We sent a crew out there and I saw firsthand how much good could come from a company that provided these services while really paying attention to the customers’ needs.

Thus, 911 Restoration and the Fresh Start Attitude was born.

Michael Strutt
Co-Founder of Kids In Sports, a specialized sports franchise for children
Our impact is very positive, we serve as an opportunity for children to learn so much from our classes, be it fitness, team sports, socialization, confidence and most importantly a love for an active lifestyle.

We (Michael and business partners) saw a need for a more comprehensive instructional Sports program for younger children that really focused on the fundamentals of team sports, but most importantly a method to teach this in a fun way.
