Franchisor Q&A (#1): Day-to-Day Experiences

Franchisor Q&A Cover Image

This post is part of a series asking top franchisors a commonly asked question by prospective franchisees. Today's question is: What can you tell us about the day-to-day experiences of those running your franchise?

Dean Angelo
Founder of Sport Lines, an athletic support franchise specializing in field marking
The daily activities of a Sport Lines franchisee can vary from day to day. Tasks include sales and marketing to include contacts with schools and sports organizations. Bidding and scheduling jobs to be completed. Billing and invoicing are also daily tasks to be done. Check and maintain inventory of paints and equipment. Additionally, daily activities will also include the lining of athletic fields and courts.

Christopher Seman
President of Caring Transitions, an estate sale and senior moving services franchise
It is people intensive – networking partners, clients, and employees who are all extremely positive people who love helping others. Day to day you will be meeting and getting to know people who excel with passion and you will use your management and organizing skills to drive results for your clients.

Paul Linenberg
President of Gotcha Covered, a home services franchise specializing in window coverings
Gotcha Covered is a community-centric business, so the majority of our franchisees' time should be spent with customers and networking partners. A minority of the time will be spent on administrative duties, such as creating proposals, managing projects and other back office activities.

Idan Shpizear
CEO of 911 Restoration, a fire, smoke, water damage and mold remediation franchise
In our business, our job is to be ready and respond to emergency calls. We never know what type of calls we will get. For example, we can get a call for a flooded business with 30 employees. Besides having to restore the property, we need to collaborate with the business owner to make sure that his business is running. On the other hand, we can get a call from a mom with three kids. Our first priority is to calm her down to make sure her kids get to school and give her the fresh start she deserves ASAP.

Rita Goldberg
Founder of British Swim School, a water safety franchise for kids
A typical day is often not typical! In the beginning our franchise owners spend 100% of their time managing all facets of the business. For the first 12 months, we require all owners to be owner-operator. It takes this amount of time to really understand the business and build the appropriate team. After 12 months, some of the franchise owners can consider becoming semi absentee, having a manager run the teams at each location.

Mike Harris
Founder and President of Pet Passages, a pet memorial and cremation service franchise
There is no one day that will ever be the same because each pet’s service is as unique as their personality. The reward and personal gratification while working with people at an intimate time is unlike any other experience you may have encountered before. At the end of each day you will know in your heart that you have truly made a difference in people’s lives.
