Happy St. Patrick’s Day! As we operate our European offices from Dublin, we have a special affinity to the holiday. We might be celebrating with a pint of Guinness later on today, but, for the time being, we haven’t forgotten the business of franchising.
For the day that’s in it, we’d like to send a reminder out to each and every entrepreneur out there about the value of luck in business and franchising. We all know the value of research and doing our homework, but occasionally, some business breakthroughs come purely from luck and good fortune. Now, many ‘lucky’ people will tell you they work so hard that they manufacture their own good luck, but on a day when we honor the ‘luck of the Irish’, let’s keep in mind that sometimes, a bit of luck is all a business needs.
Have a read of the following Entrepreneur slideshow. You’ll find the personal stories of ten entrepreneuers who, quite frankly, got lucky in business. Whether’s the story of the founders of Digg.com, who made their fortune after they shot to the top of Google following a breaking Paris Hilton news story or the owner of a start-up who was discovered simply walking down the street, there are a number of inspiring stories of accidental success.
The lesson is simple: we don’t know when success will come and hit us. Even when the chips are down, you never know when you might get lucky.
