In the past, hiring someone to help plan a vacation or clean your home was seen as a luxury. Today, it’s seen as a household benefit.

Families are busier than ever. Kids are involved in more activities. Smartphones are commanding our attention around the clock, demanding us to focus on work during what used to be time dedicated to household needs. Consumers in general are getting accustomed to the instant gratification afforded by technology today. Doing things such as cleaning house or digging into the details of a family vacation aren’t as easy to accomplish with so many daily distractions.

Enter: The service industry.

More households are relying on service-oriented franchises to provide the relief they so desperately need. This new shift has opened up new opportunity in the franchising industry.

What is a Service-Oriented Franchise?

Simply put, a service-oriented franchise is one that takes a task off of someone’s overflowing to-do list. This can be a housekeeping service, a dog grooming service, or senior care. Although there are no tangible goods exchanged, the consumer sees an immediate benefit because the business performing the service invests time to better the life of the consumer.

Why Start a Service Franchise?

There are several reasons why this style of business has taken off in recent years.

The demand continues to increase.
More people are reaching out to service-oriented franchises to alleviate some of the stress they experience in their daily life.

The startup costs are often lower.
Service businesses rely more on manpower than on equipment. Most service-oriented franchises can be run out of a person’s home, eliminating the need for high monthly rent costs. Equipment costs are minimal too.

With lower barriers to entry, it’s easier for people to realize their dream of starting their own business by starting a service-oriented franchise.

It’s easier to scale.
As demand continues to increase for your business, you can hire extra manpower to take on the extra workload. This makes it easier to scale up. Since you don’t have to worry about office space or extra equipment, the only cost you need to concern yourself with as you grow is another person’s salary.

It’s rewarding.
Service businesses aren’t just needed; they’re deeply appreciated. Your customers will feel relieved because of your help, which makes owning this type of business more rewarding and fulfilling.

Start Serving Others

If you’ve been on the verge of starting a franchise but aren’t sure which type of franchise to buy, consider the benefits of a service franchise. These types of businesses tend to be lower cost to start, easy to scale, and highly rewarding.
