TRAINING
The majority of our owners didn't have prior industry experience, and many have not owned a business before. In training we assume two items, you don't have any previous background in printing and you've never run your own business before.

Minuteman Press Franchise Owner Juanita A. Glenn Celebrates 8 Years & Business Growth in Upper Marlboro, MD
Juanita A. Glenn focuses on marketing/Internet marketing, high-demand products, and community engagement to effectively operate and grow her Minuteman Press franchise in Upper Marlboro, MD.
In December of 2016, Juanita A. Glenn bet on herself and purchased her Minuteman Press franchise in Upper Marlboro, MD. As she celebrates 8 years in business, Juanita reflects, “The last 8 years have been nothing short of an amazing blessing. I am a firm believer that if you persevere, work hard, and be consistent, it will eventually pay off. Of course, I have had my challenges during the building stages but determination and being persistent were the key factors to the success of the business.”
Juanita continues, “It’s extremely exciting to see the growth of the business. As with any company, the first 5 years are pivotal. I am now in my eighth year and with all of my hard work, I am so grateful to see this growth. I can truly attribute my success to the blessings of God and having a great team that exudes professionalism and focuses on producing excellence. Hard work and determination are a must in order to see exponential growth in a business.”
When asked about her most recent sales growth, Juanita shares:
- “Marketing is definitely a key factor in the growth of my business. I also believe that the Minuteman Press Internet Marketing Program has been a huge contributor to this growth. I have noticed a drastic change since I have increased my Internet Marketing spend.”
- “The vast majority of projects that contribute to our growth are mainly booklets, postcards, and garments. We regularly produce perfect bound and spiral bound booklets for local businesses and organizations. We have seen a significant increase in signs and postcards too. I can also now fulfill orders for t-shirts in-house and increase my bottom line.”
Journey to Minuteman Press
Prior to Minuteman Press, Juanita shares, “My professional background consisted of Web Development and Graphic Design. I was skilled in the area from my job experience and school/training. I developed such a love for graphic design that I was being sought out by people who saw my work. Afterward, I got requests to design and print booklets, tickets, and programs. I eventually started a part-time business in 2003 and opened a small office where I did most of my work. I used that office to print, design, and do web development training.”
Since purchasing the business, Juanita has thrived in her role as business owner and she hasn’t looked back. She shares, “Being a business owner is one of the most rewarding positions one can have because it allows you to build and do the work that you love. I enjoy interacting with people and making sure their jobs are done with excellence and quality. I also love the independence, control, and flexibility that I have as the owner of my business.”
She also credits the training and support from Minuteman Press that has helped her grow. Juanita reflects, “The training is something I will never forget when I first started my business. It was well-organized and I loved the aspect of comprehensive training. Being in that training allowed me to be more prepared and confident that I could make this a successful business.” Juanita continues, “The ongoing support throughout the years is something that I am extremely elated to have as a Minuteman Press owner. This participation fosters both personal and professional growth while contributing to the broader ecosystem. Attending events and social media platforms allow you to get your business name out to the public.”
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): “By contributing to the local community or specific causes, including supporting local charities, creating job opportunities, or providing resources for education and development are very pivotal to the business.”
Juanita concludes with the following additional advice: “Make sure you have the right staff in place and don’t delay until you find the one that will see the worth of the business. Also, increase your investment in the Internet Marketing Program and market as often as you can. This is very important and instrumental in my business because it helps broaden the search for my location.”
I had enough of working for other people, so I decided to look at franchise opportunities because I really always wanted my own business, from the moment I graduated and throughout my career. I evaluated four franchise systems and it was clear to me that Minuteman Press International was the best one for me based on two primary reasons: 1. Some of the active franchise owners I talked to told me, ‘You’d better like computers;’ and 2. ‘You’d better like marketing.’ So for me, if those are the biggest ‘negatives’ it makes a lot of sense to buy into the Minuteman Press International product
We were looking to work in our own business, but did not know where to start. We ended up going to a franchise show where we met the folks at Minuteman Press International. They had the most impressive presentation, the best training program, and the most comprehensive support we saw for an affordable franchise. So, we went in that direction and boom—32 years later, here we are!
Becoming a Minuteman Press Franchise owner 10 years ago is definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my entire life. I had researched many other companies and different industries for a while, but none of them gave me the level of confidence that I needed to motivate me and move forward that Minuteman Press did. Once my decision was made, and we moved forward with training and opening up my center, they gave me a great solid foundation, and second to none ongoing support to this day. I love my local field representatives; we have a great relationship with Dan Byers and Steve Szymanski. They have my back any day and any time. Our success as owners is their success as well. I came to this beautiful country 33 years ago without a dollar in my pocket, no skills, no academic degrees, no English, not even a high school diploma. Just a young teenager at that time, running away from a very conflicted civil war in El Salvador, looking for a better life. All I can say now is God is great! Thank God for the vision of the founding fathers of this great franchise Minuteman Press International, and the legacy that has been passed on and is reflected through our CEO Bob Titus and the entire team all across the globe.
My favorite part about this industry is the variety and the people. We get to work across so many different industries it's never a dull moment. We work with manufacturers, bakers, churches and even a company that does custom cranes to repair railroads. I love the relationships that we build with our clients as they grow and evolve their businesses.
I bought my Minuteman Press franchise when I was in my 20s. I absolutely love the business model and the expansion into promotional products. Networking comes naturally to me and Minuteman Press is a huge help when it comes to training and support. I also love the camaraderie that I have with other Minuteman Press owners, who are always willing to listen. From corporate to colleagues, we are all in this together, and I couldn’t ask for a better support system.
From the day I started over ten years ago, everything began to move towards digital printing. I felt that after 27 years of service at my previous job, it was time for me to change careers. After praying and seeking advice, I took a leap of faith and left my job. Once I completed graduate school in 2016 with a degree in management, I felt ready to hone in on what I had learned from school and the skills I had obtained over the years.
