Case Study: Little Caesars Franchise Veteran Program
Among many franchises offering tailor made veteran franchise program, Little Caesars offers a well developed veteran Franchise Program which has enjoyed huge success. Michael Ilitch, who established Little Caesars with his wife Marian in 1959, has been in the franchise industry since 1962. Michael is a Military Veteran himself, having served as a weapons instructor for the US Marian Corps from 1947 until 1951.
Michael became interested in establishing a veteran franchise program after hearing about military veterans who were struggling to make money for their families when they returned from service. One military veteran whose story particularly influenced Michael was Robert Doughty to whom he gave a Little Caesars franchise in 2007. Doughty was the primary influence for Little Caesars veteran franchise program.
As a military veteran, Michael knows that veterans are well suited to the franchise model as they are disciplined and hardworking. They have also inherited as team work management style from the military, as well strong personal commitment.
Now, Little Caesars have fully developed the Little Caesars Veteran Program, and Michael says that for once, the franchise wants their competitors to copy them, and start their own veteran programs.
The program offers benefits to both mainstream veterans and also service disabled veterans. With the mainstream – All Qualified Veterans program, franchisees receive a reduction of $5,000 from the franchise fee, financing benefits and a further $5,000 credit on the equipment for the first store. With the Service Disable Veterans program, franchisees receive a waiver on the franchisee fee of $20,000, financing options and benefits, $10,000 credit on the initial equipment order and marketing support from leading national marketing companies for the grand opening. This program accounts for $68,000 in support and financing.
