Amid all of the excitement over the IFA's 2012 Convention in Orlando, it slipped our mind to blog about a truly noble initiative launched at the trade fair by the country's leading franchise board.
The IFA's launched its 'Franchising Gives Back' program at the IFA Convention in February and so far it has been a rousing success. Essentially, with the initiative, the IFA chooses to give support to a non-profit organization. For its first year, the IFA chose to support the nursing center Orlando Health & Rehabilitation Center. The nearly 50-year-old center provides "post-acute services, skilled nursing services, rehabilitation programs, restorative and long-term care and respite care" to its patients, many of whom are military veterans.
In order to declare their support, IFA members plan to "build benches, plant shrubs and complete construction of a park to honor military veterans", on top of meeting many of the resident of the center.
“Franchise businesses have stepped up their support of veterans employment and recruitment initiatives this year, so it is a natural fit that our inaugural Franchising Gives Back event will support a veteran-focused organization like the Orlando Health & Rehabilitation Center,” IFA President & CEO Steve Caldeira said about the initiative.
We're delighted to see that the support pledged to the Orland Health & Rehabilitation Center and are excited who the IFA will be supporting next year.
