IFA to campaign for veteran franchisees

Just before Memorial Day, we posted a blog on how veterans have become a significant population in franchising. The International Franchise Association (IFA) obviously shares that sentiment and is re-launching a campaign for the Help Our Veterans Own Franchises Act (HVOF) through their VetFran initiative.

If passed, the HVOF Act would allow franchisors take advantage of a tax credit for recruiting veteran franchisees and also offer veteran franchisees a credit on the balance of fees not covered by VetFran franchisors. VetFran was established by the IFA to connect honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces with franchise systems that offer specific discounts to U.S. veterans for their respective franchise opportunities.

The IFA is planning to launch its Operation Building Opportunity in September at the 2011 IFA Public Affairs Conference. All franchisees who are veterans will be honored during a reception that will also serve as the kick-off for the campaign.
